I have been fighting shin splints for about 6 months now and I found that doing certain stretches before you run works The best I also soaked my legs in ice water for 45 mins a day it sucks but helps!! As for running just continue to build up your endurance
If you want to increase your endurance, do many sprints back to back. If you want to increase your speed, run long distances. an honestly I don't think you can do anything about shin splints but ice them.
