How often should you bathe a Labrador?

My dog's a Labrador/Collie cross, but his fur is primarily lab. I read somewhere that you're not supposed to bathe them that much because of the oils in their fur, but he gets pretty itchy and the best thing for him is a bath with his lavender shampoo.

It just depends, if you take your dog swimming, hunting, dock diving etc you don't want to bathe them often, but if he is mostly just a house dog and doesn't do these activities much you can do it more often. I only bathe mine about ever 6 months or so.. but mostly because it's a pain in the rump he loves water but hates baths lol

Haha, Caesar loves baths so it's not a hassle but we don't take him out swimming or anything because I don't have a car and it's winter. We're probably going to give him a kid pool in the back yard in the summer! Thank you.

Does it matter?

Yes. Outside dogs have courser fur.

He's inside primarily, but we take him on long walks almost every day unless the weather SUCKS.
