I was idling and backed up about a foot to park in a spot and I hit a car that was behind me. Am I at fault?
I was waiting on someone outside of a house and after about a minute, decided I should park. I looked in my mirror but didn't see anyone (maybe too close?) This took place at a college, on a private street in front of a college apartment. They were very close and were definitely tailgating. The owner of the car wasn't driving and was pretty drunk, he may not be legally able to drink too. I have three witnesses that are willing to say how close they observed he was. Because I was so close and wasn't going fast at all, the only visible damage was a bent license plate. I haven't heard anything from him for three days but I got a call from his insurance company today. I haven't called them and plan on contacting my agent tomorrow first. Any recommendations on what to tell my agent? And opinion on who will be at fault?
