How do I gain weight in a healthy way?

I've been skinny all my life and I'm kind of tired of people calling me things like "Chicken legs", "Board", and a "Stick". I don't want to be over weight, I just wanna be healthy, and not a "stick". How do I gain weight and still maintain a healthy diet without heading to McDonald's every night for a Big Mac?

Eat many complex carbs like potatoes, bread, rice, etc. Just because your trying to gain weight doesn't mean you should stuff yourself with lots of bad things, and eat junk food.

Thanks, good advice, I tried to eat a full 12in sub at subway today, and it completely made me sick, so I see what you mean, lol.

Start practicing a sport 5 days a week and eat healthy (dont overtrain yourself at the beginning and rest enough). Search the web for info about healthy food and how to combine carbs (from food) with proteins (also from food). To gain weight you need 60%-70% carbs and 40%-30% proteins; after you got enough weight start lowering the percentage of carbs and rise the percentage of proteins. Eat 4 or 5 times a day (only one meal), take vitamins and sleep 7-8 hours every night.

By moving to a healthier lifestyle. By managing the balance between wasting and gain. If you want to gain weight without storing fats, must get more proteins than carbs. Light exercises everyday, enough water, avoid sugar, enough sleeping time, do not eat after 6:00 pm. Earlier bedtime.

i'm kind of in the same boat as you i started eating ice cream, things with high carbs and i put on some weight so you should eat alot of carbs.

eat healthy foods.... a lot of protein. do hard workouts with weights (you will start to loss weight at first then will gain if you continue). muscle is heavier than fat so eat healthy and do hard and easy workouts. im known as really skinny to its ok though, do endurance weights ( not as heavy but for longer time, and run/jog) you just have a different body build...like me

get some protein shakes im sure that will boost you up in a healthy way as long as u workout and like other people said that u do sports that's always a big plus

there is that stuff that helps u gain wait but i dont think it works so i would eat yogart cheese and milk so u have strong bones and gain wait

I am on the same boat with ya. I used to be called "anorexic" so I know the feels. Just eat lots of carbs, protein, and exercise at least 60 mins a day. Chances are, you will fill out naturally when you are older, as my mother preaches. Hope this helps!

pump some iron and a buttload of whey protein and since u probably dont want to look ripped, stop when u think YOU look good not others.

Regardless of why you want to gain weight, eating meals or substantial snacks (think mini-meals) more often is the way to pack more calories into the day.

"Try to eat six times a day, with each meal (or at least three of them) containing protein, starch, vegetable[s], and fat," says sports nutritionist and Georgia State University professor emeritus Christine Rosenbloom, PhD, RD.

A sample meal would include a turkey sandwich on whole-grain bread with mayonnaise and tomatoes and a fruit smoothie.

Eat often and choose wisely, and you can expect to gain an average of half a pound to 1 pound per week.
