Does anybody think that it's possible to connect to other people were close to with our minds? Or possible have connected souls?

Report as

To connect minds, that is a matter of metaphysics, and could probably be done through some form intense training of the mind, to connect souls however, is much simpler, and can be far more dangerous, for both the emotional psyche, and the soul. Any time you have s3x with someone, you bind your soul to their's in some form, as it is written "a man will leave his parents, and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh". This is why s3x should be saved for marriage, if you are truly going to give all of yourself to your spouse, then you should not permanently bind yourself, body and soul, to someone else. To abuse this great power shown in the s3xual faculty, and bandy it about, only using it for pleasure, is a sin that reaches far beyond many others in terms of how displeasing it is in the eyes of God.

And when did the questioner mention sex, Preppyboy? Do you have it fore-front in your mind or something?
While you are enduring the long wait for Mrs. Preppyboy to come along, it might be time well spent to consider rejecting the roles society has set for you. Just a thought.

i simply answered the question, she asked how to bind a soul to another, that is the answer, i simply gave the truth, accept it or don't, your choice.

Note exactly... Some people do get so experienced with a person that they can tell what a person is going to say, or what they feel like just from body language and facial emotion.

No. The physical universe is way more simple than that. If we had telepathy we wouldn't have evolved to have voices for speaking now would we?

Human empathy comes closest to what you're asking. When we see, hear or are aware of the experiences of others, parts of our own brain become active as though we were experiencing the same thing.
The idea of a telepathic connection has been lab tested and shown not to exist.
There is also no evidence for the existence of a soul or spirit.

I think the idea of soul-mates is enticing because of the disconnect we as a people share.
A supernatural connection between people does not exist.

I like the soul mate thing too but I feel obligated to hard reject so much for the sake of skepticism and eliminating magical thinking as an acceptable means of thought processing. When Christianity dies I think I'll feel freer to openly talk about soul mates, or maybe just in private.

I hear you, TIO. It's almost as if you have to be "on" all the time..
When Christianity dies, we will be free- and I hope we will still be alive.
To usher in that joyous day sooner, we will just have to work harder. Or smarter. :) :)

Yes, it's nice that I love working towards this goal. It's like a never ending source of entertainment. The liberation from the task would be bitter sweet but I will celebrate like its only sweet if we get there alive.

It's rare but, yes, it can happen.

I used to work shift work and, if my relief didn't turn up at midnight I stayed on till morning. We didn't have a phone at the time so there was no way to let Daizy know I wasn't coming home. Then one night I fell off a train. I wasn't badly hurt but was kept in hospital overnight.

But Daizy woke at about the time I fell and sat up all night worrying. She'd never worried before, just that one night.

There have been other occasions.

It's possible to rationalise events like that, to explain them away, but when they continue to occur, no matter how infrequently, it's probably smarter to accept that there's something unusual involved.

You know I know just what you are talking about but I've taken a different approach because of other things I've seen. I can wake myself up within the second of a time I wish to after many hours of sleep.

My prediction is that we are much like clockwork. We will behave in certain ways on intervals. I know it's weird to say but I would say it was "your time to fall off of a train." Now not necessarily "fall off of a train" but make a mistake in your physical equilibrium that results in some accident. I think if a person watches you long enough they become keen to your timing. This is easily demonstrated in "fighter" style video games as I can sometimes predict every one of my friends moves before he makes it, leaving him baffled as to whether it was a fluke he landed no hit or I am a genius. The truth is that I simply know his timing well. I think daizy knows your timing, and while she could not predict you were to fall off of a train- she knew you were forkin up.

Just some food for thought and a rationalization I have speculated.

Sure, Tio. Lots of possibilities. I'll just leave it dangling there.

@Dodgy I agree and understand your answer. This has also happened with my husband (The Woodman) and myself. I've also had similar experiences with my son who is in his thirties.
Report as
Dodgy- I'd expect nothing less... My problem is my thoughts are not always so interactive and its one I've been working on for years. I'm amazed at the conversationalists that can turn my silence bringers to a topic we can discuss. I just wanted you to see my brains a little and see if it sparked any anecdotes.
Report as
@ladywood: It's special when that happens and Daizy and I are also very close. There have been a number of occasions. I'll mention a couple of them when I respond to Tio.
Report as
@Tio: Well, yes, you did stir my memory a bit. Dropping a cue at me is a bit like dropping a pebble into a cesspool -- you can see the rings starting to circle but you never know what kinds of rubbish lies underneath.

There have been a number of occasions although they are rare -- unless, of course, you count the number of times we seem to anticipate each others minds, to read each other's thoughts. Those are nice but too easily explained if you understand the cues that led up to them.

Twenty-some years ago Daizy came with me to the airport for an early flight. She was to return home with the car. We live on the lower Blue Mountains, so plenty of eucalyptus forest around us and the side road we drove along was deserted. There was a steep grade and a right-angled bend half way down.

A hundred metres or so before that bend she said, "Slow down. There'sd an echidna on the road." It was about 50 metres past the corner, well and truly out of sight.

No, not a guess. It's the only echidna we ever saw in this area (they're very shy_ and only the second one I've EVER seen. The other was in the Victorian Alps, 800 km to the south, during a snow shower.

I don't often tell these stories because most folk think they're nonsense but, you asked, so there it is.
Report as
That one I don't have a answer for haha- at least not an obvious one. I've experienced unexplainable events myself, but like you, I try not to jump to any conclusions. It's comical she has the sixth sense about echidna's but its fascinating she had a sense for it at all. I didn't know echidna was native to blue mountains, though I have wondered in past where those things come from. Sonic the hedgehog has an echidna friend named knuckles and it was a long time before I even figured out echidnas were a real thing. Thank you for sharing, I always enjoy the detail you add to stories and your environment is just a great place to talk about XD

Yes, I believe its possible, just one example in my experience has been while away at school I would get up from doing whatever.. And sit by the phone in Our Dorm Room just about a few seconds before the phone would ring and answer with Hi Ma! Freaked my roommate out first few times:-). Reverse held also, Ma would have same experience on her end. And no, we would not phone regularly or at any given time; International Phone lines from my country to the US were quite erratic.

If you're referring to some sort of telepathy or supernatural event, no, I don't believe so.
