How to play with my Chinchilla?

I have a pet Chinchilla named Oreo :) He is about a year old and I got him from PETCO a week ago. He's very active at night time, but I can't take him out anywhere in my house. I try to play with him in my room, but he always goes under my bed and I can never get him out. And with my parents sleeping, I'd be stuck with it and have to try to get him out and it takes about an hour. Is there anything I can do to be able to play with him in my room and not have him go under my bed? Is there a way to cover the bottom of my bed? I also cannot play with him on top of my bed because he jumps down and then goes under my bed. PLEAAASSEEE Help!

You've only had him a week sweetie, give him time to get to know you. Right now you are a stranger to him. How about doing this for a week or so and see what happens. Feed him different fruits and veggies, find his FAVORITE one. Open his cage door, and feed him whatever this favorite is, and ONLY let him have it from your hands. After a few weeks of doing this, try picking him up and feeding him this treat from your hands. Eventually he will trust and love you enough to not hide.

You can get a ball for him :) Although I'm not sure if this would be enjoyable for you.

You need to create a connection with your chinchilla for it to play with you. Be patient with it since it is timid and needs time. Give the chinchilla treats occasionally and then place it on your shoulder when it gets close to you. Avoid fast and abrupt movements and with time, the chinchilla should get used to you and will play with you more often.

DeclairedOk

Block all entrances to under your bed... Strong cardboard taped with Duck Tape will do.

Try taking him to bathroom where there's nowhere to run, but I agree it will take time.

You need to establish rapport with your chinchilla before your pet can play with you. First you need to feed him using your hands or always keep an eye on your chinchilla until it gets familiar with your smell and touch.
