A dominant male is generally accepted as a man who uses his physical or mental power to rule over others if he feels threatened he will try to find a way 'take down' whoever it is threatening.

Aggressive males are preferred. Kind of like gorillas and rams. Most men have to make sure everyone knows they can't be messed with. Establishing their manliness.
