a "jailbreak" is a term used for rooting ios devices so that they can be customised beyond apples ios constraints "jail breaking" is not illegal unless you download from an illegal source to get things like free apps or songs. used right "jail breaking" is awesome if done wrong it will ruin your ios device I suggest never use anything from illegal sources or winter board / dreamboard

You do not want it. It voids your warranty. It also makes it easier for the system to be hacked. It is not worth it, at all.

No problem. Just that you would know because some of the sites for it are illegal, so it voids the warranty. I'm not sure if it voids or not when using a legal site, but its hard to tell if its a legal or illegal site unless you're a computer expert. My advice is just don't do it and encourage others to not do it unless they are a computer expert or know for sure if the site is legal and make sure that it won't void the warranty.
