What is there to do around Boston, Massachusetts? Where should my family and I go?

My family and I are going to Boston, and we were wondering what we could do around there for fun. Maybe a place to eat. Even if it's a place not in Boston, but in a city or town near there.

As corny as it sounds, the Boston Duck Tours. And the 'freedom trail', The Aquarium, The Museum of Science. Take a small ferry to the islands off Boston, Georges' I, Spectacle, and Long Island (not NY) If you're going in the summer, take a ferry to Provincetown. It's pretty expensive, but the fast ferries give you severl hours in Provincetown to poke around. It's a different way of life there. It is Gay friendly, and quite eclectic. Nice place to visit.

Tony's right. You have to walk the Freedom Trail. You're probably comning in either to Logan Airport or South Station (train). Go to South Station for free maps n such. Boston Common and Public Garden is 1/2 mile NW. Start at the State House on Beacon Street and follow the trail to Faneuil Hall. Shop and grab lunch at Quincy Market. Take the Green Line subway to Fenway Park and go bar-hoppin on Lansdowne Street.

Remember- the North End is the Italian area. Everything else is Irish. DO NOT wear anything with the NY Yankees logo on it, especially in South Boston or at Fenway or you will be beaten senseless.
I'm just sayin - it'll happen.
If you have time, go 2 miles NW of Fenway, just across the Charles River, and visit Mount Auburn Cemetery. Trust me, it is absolutely magnificent. It's as pretty as the Public Gardens and you'll see all sorts of famous dead people.

Other than that, google the Hatch Shell or the Berklee College of Music to see if there's a concert you can catch. Go to the top of the PRUdential Center for a nice view of the city. And head north to the Charlestown Navy Yard to visit the USS Constitution.
Or just get wicked hammered and ride the T.
It's a great city, lots to do.
(And I'm serious - No Yankees attire)

Wow! I do believe I've found someone who loves and appreciates Boston as much as I do!
What is the name of the Resteraunt that the Kennedy's visited often? It's been around since, well forever, in Quincy Market? For the life of me, I can't remember the name of it. It's an old Tavern.

Best seafood in town in probably the Union Oyster House on Union Street. The Chart House on the Long Wharf is wicked good too, but real pricey.
Quincy Market is full of like dozens of little places with food from all over the world. It's really not the most hygenic place, but just ignore that (lol).
Just wander down the main hall and try random stuff from each stall.
And under the central donw upstair is the Comedy Connection where you can catch a decent comedy show.

Go to Quincy Market, great Resteraunt's in the area. Lots of shopping.
My second favorite part of Boston is Little Italy, easy walk from Quincy Market.
A must for all families, walk the Freedom Trail. It's the Route Paul Revere took. You can go with a tour guide but I find it much more enjoyable just to walk it alone. You'll find trees on the side of the road, that still have cannonballs in them. The Church that many of our Forefathers attended is still open and available for you to tour. The Cemetery that Paul, Nathan Hale and so many others are buried is still there and pretty well maintained.
It's living History! A great way to teach the young one's about our History, in a way that makes learning an adventure. Enjoy!!

Boston is a really nice city, so I am pretty sure you will! Don't forget to bundle up since most of it is near water. And also, if you pass it and have time- mikes pastries. Get a lobster claw. They are amazing!!
