My cousin has the same illness. She has had two pregnancies and two healthy babies. The doctors have narcotic alternatives that are safe for pregnancy. I actually think you can even take certain narcotics... There have been so many advancements in the medical field and I am sure there is a way for you to have a pain-free pregnancy... I wish you the best of luck!!!

Why do babies have to detox because their "mothers" could't stay away from drugs?

I think it depends on your pain tolerance but certain pain medications including narcotics are safe with pregnancy. Of course it is better if you can gradually wean off the drugs. I think you would be fine. it is actually relatively common for providers to manage pain during pregnancy

An obstetrician could best answer this and how the drugs would affect you and your unborn. Surely the drugs would be changed, but that's for your doctor to decide. I have a friend and a cousin with fibro, I'm just starting to understand how it affects them. Their children are grown.

I suffer from Fibromyalgia and I had to wean myself off my medication. I'm now 31 weeks pregnant and the pain has started to flare up. I'll be calling my Dr this morning for help as struggling with all the walking I have to do at work as well. I had no pain for months and felt fine but now it's just started to hit me
