I have an 81 Olds Diesel and newer gas car. When I start the diesel it doesn't steam out of the exhaust like a gas does. Do diesel engines
not produce the clear steam smoke that disappears after a few seconds like gas? The Oldsmobile 98 Diesel is an 1981 so it is exempt from having to have catalytic converters. Is it that, it doesn't have catalytic converters, or is it diesel fuel and the 22.5:1 compression and the fact that diesels burn so hot and clean? I went to the web and watched videos of Diesel vehicles starting in the cold and none make steam, some smoke a bit,but that is not the steam that I am talking about.
