If a company is giving 5 cents for a can of aluminum how are they making a profit if aluminum is worth only 50 cents per pound

As long as a pound is less than ten cans, then they make a profit. Small one at least
Maybe they advertise soemthign with it and they advertiser's pay them so they make money or it could be non profit or it's a rich guy giveing it away o.o
The $.05 is built into the initial price of the product. They did that with soda and beer bottles to. I've seen some area do that with plastic bottle to. It's a good way to get people to recycle.
