What is a neurosurgeon, and/or what do they do?

I had a project about Benjamin Carson and he was a neurosurgeon and I didn't know what that was.

A neurosurgeon is a highly trained specialist doctor who has a primary focus of addressing conditions affecting the peripheral nerves and the main nervous system. In other words, this type of doctor will work on areas of the body that include the brain, the spine, potentially the arteries in the neck, and the nerves in the body.
