While I am a Catholic, I can see how people can not believe in God. There just isn’t enough proof or evidence to back-up the claim that he is real. It is all about faith and believing that makes this “God” real. And I must add, I find it wrong for the some of you people who believe in God, to attack or harass those who don’t. It is their choice to not believe, and you arguing and attempting to force them to change just makes you appear ignorant and unintelligent. This “God” that many of you harassers believe in, says “Not to judge others” so therefore you are going against the very rules this “God” set for you. Let the people believe what they wish, they have more proof to back up their claim then we do ours. So....How about we all become friends?
It's all based on someone's (or people's) words from long ago--nowadays, if people were to say such things, they would be considered INSANE and locked up forever. Also, I just don't believe it, it's kinda hard to explain. I'm proud to be a pagan :)! Nature makes sense and so does science. There is no one all-seeing, all-knowing person; that's just crap. I have a strong opinion on this, sorry :)
Some haven't felt His amazing presence and seen miracles happen in people's lives, others use science to try to prove God wrong. I'm proud to be a Christian, however, and nothing anyone will say can shake my faith.
People say that their god is THE god. There are so many gods that people believe in. When we came to the americas from eurasia and africa and they (native americans) had different gods. It is in human nature to believe that there is a god when something is unexplainable.
I can see why someone wouldn't believe in God. I have to admit a few years back I was skeptical. You just have to develop a special connection with God. It's hard to explain but I can almost "feel" that God is real.
Nothing cause me not to believe its that the thing that was causing me TO believe stopped working. Realizing fear, logical fallacies and persuasive arguments do not constitute evidence makes faith go bye bye for some of us.
I suppose mostly because they feel there is not enough tangible evidence that God exists. But I also think some do not believe because they see so much injustice in the world, and wonder "If there is a God in heaven, then why do so many people suffer, and is he going to do something about it?"
Hi Jessica. First, welcome to Ask. I hope you enjoy your stay.
You probably don't realise it yet but your question is one that gets asked here all the time.
Most non-believers have come to the conclusion that there's absolutely no evidence to support belief in a god. Any god. Jesus, Jehovah, Allah, Zeus, Odin -- you name it, they've all had their share of followers.
It's a more interesting question to ask "Why DO people believe in God?" Most believers accept that the religion they are taught as a child is the true one. So a child born in Iran is likely to become a Muslim, or perhaps a Zartushtie. South America and Italy produce Catholics. A kid born in the Bible belt is just as likely to be a Southern Baptist. But they all have one thing in common. They all think their idea of God is correct and that all the others are wrong.
Illogical: Sometimes peoples' criticism of the Bible is not rational. For example, someone might say that the Bible can't be God's word because it is ancient. But being ancient doesn't mean it isn't from God. Inaccurate: Sometimes people have inaccurate information about the Bible. For example, someone might say that it is nothing more than fictional stories, or that it has been changed so much it can't be trusted. But the truth is that it is not fiction and it has not been changed. Emotional: Sometimes people just hate religion, God, or anything that imposes morals. Other times people hate the idea that Jesus is God in flesh, or that He is the only way to salvation.
There is no evidence to support "His" existence, nor is there any evidence to support any other gods, like Zeus, Odin, Shiva, Cthulhu, or any of the others. The list goes on and on, and it seems as if weapon addict has the exact number. It's just that I believe in one less god then you do.
