While it is true that both boys and girls need physical checkups from time to time, girls particularly need regular checkups because they are so much more complex. Development of the female body to mature as a woman capable of reproduction involves many complex processes. There is so much more that can "go wrong." You can opt to have checkups made by a lady doctor if you are too shy, but it is VITAL that you know every part of your physical development is going normally. Boys, on the other hand, have all their sexual organs externally, so checkups are are easier. There are less things to go wrong as well. But women are stronger than men - they live longer, can endure pain and stresses more than men. But YOU need regular checkups so you can take whatever steps are necessary to correct your health needs - it is YOUR responsibility to know as much about your health as you can. Checkups are the only way you can be sure!!!!!!!!!!

Just to make sure everything's ok with your health. For physicals, there isn't much you should be afraid of. Only thing I remember that was awkward was that my doctor had to check inside my pants. You don't need to freak out, just bring your mom in with you.
I hate physicals so much I have refused to get one for 4 years straight. Those doctors have no right to feel around where they do. If they didn't have to do stuff in your pants there'd be nothing to it but being measured, weighed, eye sight tested ect.
While awkward by both boys and girls alike, these exams serve a purpose, and if your total health means anything to you, you'll allow your physician complete access, so he can give you an opinion based on your FULL examination.
