My CT scan report: Cervical spine (neck).
Can you translate this one sentence into plain english for me?

"There is subtle asymmetry between the lateral margin of the odontoid process and lateral mass of C1 on coronally reconstructed images".

What are they saying here?
It is something to be worried about?
Do I need an MRI?

Thanks.

It doesn't sound too serious, but then again I am not a doctor and have NO idea what I'm talking about. Hint...Hint.
I just had an MRI on my cervical spine and subsequent surgery. I would really recommend calling your physician and request that he explains the results of the Cat Scan to you in plain English. If you don't want to go in to his office, just request a call back from him or her. I wouldn't worry though, honestly.

Hi H.
MrJohnWayne I have had probs with the comment limit aswell. Which I hate, coz once I start.....but then I get told I can't comment for 30 mins. Oh well.

You'll get used to it ! Answer a couple of questions and then make a few comments ! If you comment to much , too fast , they'll nail you ! Slow down and only comment if you really have too ! Works for me !

Good advice. I shall slow down. Thank you.

Call the Doctor and request for the good explanation. Since you pay for the service you have the right to know.

I'm not a doctor, but the word "asymmetry" means "off-center". You know, asymmetrical hairstyles are longer on one side than the other...somethings out of balance.
