Hi moderators! I would ask you to reconsider a removal please.

A person who is learning English is trying to understand how to use this site. Of course they did not phrase their question well. It's hard to follow the guidelines when one is struggling with the language. The asker appeared to be a wonderful new addition to our community, yet will be unable to fully participate if the first few attempts to learn about Ask are removed before explanations are presented. Is there a way to help guide them instead of block them? When I "read between the lines" the purpose of their question fell well within guidelines. They just want to know how to connect and join us.
I really like how Ask.com is a global community. I just want to promote that as best I can. I know the link to customer service. But, I don't know how to link this new member's question specifically since it has been removed and the URL is no longer available. Any ideas? Thank you!

I know who you are speaking of because I have been trying to help her. I think the reason it got removed because there were several instances of her asking others to help her through email and a few gave their email address. She keeps wanting others to help her in this manner and of course that would be the unrealistic way because what she needs help with is so hard, but she can't seem to understand that this site doesn't work this way. Another thing is, with her keeping asking for help through email, they (the mods) MAY be thinking she CAN speak English, and is just using this site to get email addresses from people, and Ask can't allow that. I did spend about 2 hours helping her the other night and Rathkeake helped me, but there's no way we on Ask can help with the amount of work she needs help with. I Definately would try and help her on here, but the younger crowd keeps giving her their email to help her, someone flags it and it gets deleted (I didn't flag it) and then they left their phone numbers for her because she is unable to read or understand the community guidelines about that-it's just a difficult situation. I know how you feel.

The person to whom I was referring had only signed up last night. I was unaware that there was a similar situation. I'm glad the person to whom you're referring found you and Rath! Two great helpers!

This person had no personal info requests. The question was sort of a statement, but that happens all the time. It was easy enough to discern. Oh well. These things happen. :)

Oh I just saw this! I'm sorry. Does anyone else get their notifications18 hours later ? I was thinking when I answered this, there might be a chance of it being someone else.
Don't you wish there was a sight that could offer advice like you are speaking of in the comments to Dozy so people like you, me, Clickety , souixbee , CJ, seriously, and many MANY others who I have come to be friends with on here could do more help with? We can offer sites to help them, but they need advocates and ...yes...it is a sad sad situation and sometimes the teens can be so nice and helpful and then other times there is a weird thing that happens and some of them just follow the others in joking around that is very
frustrating. I hope you are okay Happy. I'm really sorry I had the wrong person to which I answered this question to.

It does seem to have loosened up a little bit on here, I think. This weekend I have seen a lot of statements make it through. However, when I was trying to ask a few questions to post, my Ask iPhone app said I had to start my question with "who, what, where, why, and etc." When I tried to start the question with "can", it wouldn't accept the question. However I see a lot of questions that don't start with this. Please respond if you see this so I can know if you're okay. I'm worried.

Oh I'm fine. It may be a bit draining to help with serious Q&A, but it's also enormously satisfying. I love that we can enjoy each other in the community to unwind after the emotional questions. Having great people to connect with is definitely what makes Ask so wonderful. I don't carry the emotions of the hard answers for long. Don't get me wrong, I remember and care. I just don't think it would be good for me or the next person in need if I didn't clear away the "ouch - that was rough." You needn't worry about me. My nickname Happy is the real me. I focus on the satisfaction that I tried my best. I send my friends who are wiser and kinder to questions I'm unsure of. I laugh with my buddies in between. It's all good! :)

I would love to see advocates made available. I wonder if there are sites that do that. Maybe there are. I wouldn't be surprised if there are places that focus on specific topics, like a teen runaway online hotline. It would be nice to be able to direct people to the right pros who specialize.
We manage to find each other here when we need backup. There are wiser and kinder members I've turned to like you, Rath and Dozy!

Btw, there are National and Local Hotlines for Teens in many forms; Runaway, Abuse, Suicide, Drug Use/abuse etc . Also many of the same for adults. Think I'll print out a list and keep it with the Comp, have used a few lately and would be handy to have closer and quicker.

Oh Witt! That would be wonderful! Would you mind sharing here? I could bookmark it for easy access. As I find any great sites, I'll post links. We could change what was originally a "bummer" and make this Q&A very beneficial!

Sounds like a good idea Happy! Will of course be up to Ask wether they allow us to do a"list posting" but hey will get on it after some (blah) Tax paper stuff and get back to you later on today, and "nee heb je, ja kan je krijgen"!:-).
"No, you've got, Yes, you can get" :-),:-).
Report as
Witt: Tax papers - yuk!
If they take down the question, we can just put our lists in comments and bypass the rigmarole.
I'm off to get my haircut. It's way overdue. I'll post a question this evening when I have time to work out the wording and to stay online for the good folks who respond.
Sincerity, you always have such great ideas. You're the best!

Sadly, I don't think I will.
It's been a rough day here.

A young woman was taken advantage of by her superior at work.

A woman of the same age from Namibia can no longer care for her child. I spent over an hour trying to find the adoption routes that are needed to protect her 2-yr-old son from trafficking. I saw things I didn't want to see. But, I had to keep going. The system is so different. In the interim the U.S. teens were unkind.

A true shortcoming is apparent today. It's a big world, and it isn't always kind.
Dozy, no one better could have shown up at this moment. I'm grateful to see your kind horns and halo.

That's a bit comical, Happy. Precious posted that, ten months after this question was asked, then deleted her account. Strange.

Hmmmm... My screen shows her comment was 10 months ago. There are "flubs" in posting and notifications.

David, I'm glad you posted here. This was one of those moments I want to remember, despite the "unhappy" vibe. I used to have time to browse all my old Q&A's as well as each follower. Lately, I've been drawn away by my mother's health, our home needs, and family. Don't get me wrong, I love my life. Yet, I miss researching in depth, and revisiting these moments when Ask changed me. This was one to remember. :*)

Sorry, Happy. I saw "10 months" and read it as "10 hours". My mistake. Put it down to one of my brain farts. Sorry you mother is having health problems -- I hope she finds a solution ... and sorry for the confusion of this answer.
Report as
No problem! Senior Moments, Brain Farts! Lol! :)

Mom's had an antibiotic resistant infection for 7 months. Since stepdad's Alzheimer's keeps him from driving, I've been the chauffeur. But I can't complain. It's been harder on her. She has the majority of his caregiving and a chronic condition. We're muddling through. I finally talked her into seeing specialists. Fingers crossed that the right meds will be found soon.

I'm still glad your comment came. The woman I referred to here touched me. It was good to revisit.

That's a kind thing to say. This is the question they left up. I hope being deleted doesn't drive a good person away.

Happy, have you tried connecting with Mod like Eric in Help and asking that question directly? Don't know if anything can be done but you would at least get an clearer answer. Wish I had better/more suggestions, sounds like you had a rough night. Remember the Namibian girl; that was rough, inwardly biting my tongue a few times...

She commented back. She'll be someone I'll remember.

You referring to her last post where it was clear she felt "beat up"?
Had to shut down for a few or either cry, scream or both.. Felt so bad the girl.
People just sometimes forget to give others the benefit of the doubt and attempt to place themselves in their shoes..
Eagh, then again how can most of these kids even begin to really relate? That live is so far from anything they're familiar with. Have always wished every young person should be required to do a year of some sort of "Peace Core" after High School and before deciding what/ where/ how they go on in live. Think it would help them understand and learn so much.
