Explain what you mean by the 'range' of a thermometer.

Report as

This is the amount of heat it can measure, a thermometer for you mouth has a very small range, say 90 to 110 degrees,, one for outdoors has a range from 0 to 120 degrees, one for the oven again measures higher temperatures 100 to 450 degrees fahrenheit.
Basically the range is the coldest to the hottest measurement.
