How can you make your own Operating System

i dont know where to get started, could i use a linux kernal as a base then just add to it to make it the way i want it to be?

Learn how to read and write binary code as well as your primary language. You have to become a computer programmer. Not as hard as you might think. It's kinda like riding a bike, there are those who think it's too hard to do but they're the ones not willing to learn it. It kinda becomes a part of you after incorporating it into your subconscious. If you go off of Linux, you are modifying an existing OS rather than creating a new one.

Here's a link to some reading material if you are interested. I have not read any of these books but came across them so I can't speak to their worth, but it may be worth a look if you are a self-taught type of person.
