91 ranger 2.3 L what causes idol to be unsteady goes between 700 rpm to 400 at stop times could it be tps ,or idol control valve

just put plugs 44:000 and crank sensor which corrected my earlier problem ,thanks ask.com u guys are awsome !! 235.000 miles on truck

Many of these older Fords suffered from a problem like this being caused by a dirty throttle body. Deposits of grease and carbon build-up caused the idle airflow to be disrupted and caused stalling and erratic idle. And as you already noted, the idle air control solenoid could be acting up also. If you can't figure it out, have a qualified mechanic figure it out, I've even seen the T.F.I. modules on the ignition cause this problem, so be very diligent in checking EVERY possible problem. Idle Air Control valve is suspect.
