How can I convince my parents I am responsible enough for a laptop?

I'm 16 (almost 17) and still have no laptop. all I have is this old iTouch that I got for my 14th birthday. My parents think I'm some kind of irresponsible brat who wants everything. I can't buy it myself because I'm broke, and once again they treat me like I'm 9. If I did get it, which laptop should I get?

If your parents think you want everything, maybe that's something you should work on. Take something that you really want and just try to achieve getting that. Don't obsess about anything else and you'll be fine and get your laptop in no time... i hope.

in 2 almost 3 years you haven't saved up for a laptop? Get a job and pay for it yourself. That would show them you are responsible for larger ticket items.

IDK? But if you do, get a Windows laptop.

Why don't you ask your parents? Come up with realistic goals with time limits to prove your are responsible. Please think about this: are you sure your parents have the money for one?

Ask what you can do to earn this laptop. Certainly there are chores: trash, dishes, clean up kitchen & bathrooms, yard work such as leaves AND yes mowing. I am female and I started mowing at 13. Just get Dad to start it up for you. Babysit for "safe" families in your community. Make your goals well known in advance & they will admire your ability to plan & budget. Start a bank acct. (you can make interest, free money). Show them your saving abilities and how you are "socking it away" instead of spending. Good Luck!

I don't want to judge you but it seems that you may be a bit spoiled. Why do you need a laptop? Tell your parents all the reasons and try to save up as much as possible to help them pay for one. Maybe they just don't have enough money. Another factor to consider is getting a job. Your almost 17, right? Prove to your parents that you are responsible enough to get a job. That way they will know you are responsible and you can start saving up for that laptop. Good luck!
