Just got Directv installed, and they told us we get 3 months free of certain movie channels. So we were watching one and plz read on...

..wanted to DVR it. It then said it was $5.99 to record. So is it only free to watch but I have to pay to record? any help would be appreciated..

I have had both Dish Network and DirecTV, and I don't know how they do business now, but I NEVER had to pay on an individual basis to record anything on a DVR. Are you sure you are on a regular movie channel and not a pay-per-view/movie rental channel? I haven't had either Dish or DTV for about two years b/c they are both too expensive, but of the two, I prefer DTV. Dish had HORRIBLE customer service, particularly concerning their DVR service. They caused me SO much grief. (Verizon is another company with ROTTEN customer service. Avoid them if possible. I can't b/c I live in the boonies and there is no other choice.)

Well I'm not sure on the movie channel thing. We are new to this DTV thing, and just got it the other day. We will look into it for sure. Thanks so much for the answer! Good stuff..

I use Dish Network. They don't charge to record anything and now they have a feature where you can record up to 4 shows at the same time. I've had them for almost 8 yrs and I love it

Thanks .. I should have done some more research on this. Kinda stuck for 2 years now:/ but still cheaper than cable.

You should never have to pay for recording on a DVR. Did the DirecTV installer or the customer service rep tell you that you have to call to cancel the free channels before your 3 free months of service end or that you would be charged for the channels until you do call? Just want to make sure you were given all relative info on the free channels. I would call DTV and ask why you're getting the message about being charged for using your DVR service. Best wishes

Hi T, I'm so sorry I didn't get a notification that you answered my question. We finally got it figured out. It took a little bit of time to get used to DTV. I hope things are going well for you. We have been so busy, here it is June 5th and we just lost the blossoms on our apple trees. Winter was so long & spring didn't even have a chance to appear. We are trying to get the yard & beds cleaned up. I feel overwhelmed. Our friend just mowed his yard for the 1st time this past weekend. Geesh it's crazy!
