I do alot of walking; honestly, my legs are the strongest things on me, and its not because of the walks! Although, I do still fit in alot of time to walk and run if I get a chance because I walk about a total of 2hr and 45 minutes a day.(except on weekends) It all consists of walking to school and back home, walking my dog after school, gym time, and walking or running to my next class. But the firm foundation I started with was a 1 week workout of insanity! after that, my legs just grew all kinds of muscles and now, all I'm doing is toning up.
You know I have a pretty darned good one I think, I enjoy boxing and I train regularly. I read a book written by Smoking Joe Frazier last year, in it, he summarizes the history of boxing, a great read btw. He talked about the training techniques of the greatest fighters in history.. Jake Lamotta , the raging bull, - to give his legs the stamina they needed for 15 rounds, had his own ring built. The only difference was a chain link ceiling at 4ft high covered the entire ring,. He would then shadow box for 15 rounds every other day for the month leading to the fight inside this covered ring. I tried to do this, guessing the 4 ft hght of course, I crouched and shadow boxed for 1 1/2 rounds only and I was unable to stand the burn was so intense. But the longer you keep doing it, wow your legs will be cut. Try it, I found it to be a lot more motivating than squatting or simply running and the rewards are ten fold better if you follow through and do it. Good luck. OH and Jake Lamotta never once touched the canvas his entire career, going the distance twice with the great Sugar Ray Robinson, he never went down.
