How do I find my self in terms of religious beliefs?

Ok this is kind of a weird question, but its a self conflict I have been having for some time now. I was raised as a Christian in the heart of the Southern Bible Belt, but as I have gotten older and got into high school (I'm 16 now), I've met so many new people and have been introduced to so many new ideas. I now have trouble with my personal beliefs, because personally, I really don't believe in a God. I just can't find it in me. I look towards scientific reasoning and I usually agree with it. When I get into debates over people with religion, I usually always lean towards an atheist view point. But on the other hand, I kind of do believe that there could very well be a God (or Gods). I have explored different religions (From Buddhist, which I've been more attracted to, to even Wicca), but I just can't figure out this stuff. I want to find something I truly believe in, rather its being an atheist or agnostic, or a specific religion. How can I find myself spiritually? I'm not asking to make me a believer, I'm asking for advice :p I just don't know if I believe or not believe...

Honestly you're already on the right track- you're investigating the religions if the world and the arguments for none at all. Keep studying; examine history, theology, philosophy, science. Read the texts of various religions- you'll know if something resonates for you. Or, you could very well be like me- several years of study made me realize I simply didn't believe in gods at all.

It can take time to settle when you were raised in one religion but discard it later. So many years of tradition or belief can lead you to feel a bit adrift at first, but it will get better with time. You are lucky enough to have something I didn't during my "deconversion"- the Internet and a society where nonbelievers are increasingly open and "out". A community of like minded individuals can help greatly.

Give it time. It'll settle out eventually. The confusion you feel is that of a person who feels he must arrive at a decision but can't because not all the requisite information you need is in for you to review yet.

The best thing you can do is just read more about what you find confusing now, and look for information pertinent to whatever you feel you must decide on. And realize that even so, what information you've gotten may still be incomplete.

Only you can put yourself at ease at this point.

You have to define what it is you truly believe. You are taking a wise approach by looking into other faiths. Keep an open mind, there is no time limit. There is a lot to draw from, find what works for you. Don't allow anyone else to dictate what you must believe.

The fact that you say you "really don't" believe in God yet also say "there could very well be a God" makes you sound agnostic. But that isn't going to be a satisfactory conclusion for you because you also say you want to find "something" to believe in, but atheists and agnostics don't really "believe" in anything. Most of them will define their code of beliefs as a lack thereof. If they believe in anything at all it is probably themselves. Maybe you should ask them about it. Good luck.

Thanks. Yeah, you can tell from my confusing paragraph that I am deeply conflicted.

It's totally OK. Pretty much everybody goes through it at some point. In the end, whatever you decide you do or don't believe, you'll be glad you did the hard and painful work of finding out and it will be worth it. What would be bad is if you were just complacent and never questioned at all.

Life is a Journey... Continue to search and learn about different faiths and ideas, it's very interesting. Only you can know what you believe. And only you can choose...you will find what is right for you, meditate and take it slow.... I went thru the same experience. Answers will come as you grow older and research and experience different things...
