Does Satan deserve to be forgiven?

Just in case he repents.

Report as

Poor old Satan wasn't such a bad guy , he just got poor publicity. If he'd hired a modern spin doctor he'd not only still be living in Heaven, he'd probably be running the place.

What was he guilty of, really? Failing to worship God? Failing to bow and kowtow? Good grief! That sort of thing went out with the Middle Ages.

Sure, he's done some mean things since he was booted out of Heaven but who can blame him? Wouldn't you have felt pretty angry if you were fired from a job just because you wouldn't suck up to the boss? There's still a lot of good in the poor guy, and it behooves us to try to find it. Let's start a petition to get his old job back and, once again, he can be Lucifer, Angel of Light.

Of course, Rev. But then, the Jester in a pack of cards symbolises the Devil (or Loki, at least) so jesting seems to be appropriate.
Report as
The only reason bowing down to human is wrong is because they are imperfect, if this was not the case we would bow to anyone greater or equal to us. There is nothing higher or equal to the only perfect being and thus for even a rock to not worship him it is guilty of the highest treason. Jesus stepped down of his own free will to save us if we want. Lucifer though I honor his sacrifice to being the villain to this beautiful Love story I have no sympathy for him like Hitler or Pharaoh.

God will forgive anyone. Even Satan, but Satan wouldn't want to be forgiven. He is a separate God right now. He is the God of the Underworld and he would want to remain in that position for eternity. If he didn't want to remain in that position, then he will betray God once again.

If satan repents is there gonna be a public announcement? Hey, that's a good idea, I'll start a really religous web site, get a million followers, and then spread the rumor that satan repented and his 4giveness was down 2 a vote, and if the people 4gave him there would be no hell--anyway where was I, oh right, do we ever hear anything from heaven, is there proof that anything outside of life exists? The evil "science" now has an answer for everything, religion doesn't. So who cares about this 2000 page childrens book, and the 1billion arguments it's sparked, imagine if 2000 years after lord of the rings we were arguing in elvish over minor details, or even pondering them, useless, religion is good for giving people morals, yes, but the indian concept of karma strikes at little escapable fact, what goes around, comes around, if you piss off a city, you get shot, if you hand out cookies, assassination is unlikely. isn't that motivation enough, to do the right thing not for fear or punishment, or hope of reward?

God has already forgiven Satan. If God hadn't then he'd still be harboring hate and is that the God that we know? The reason Satan sided against God was that he chose to love mankind more than him. From that point on Satan hated man for taking Gods favor and it was at that moment he turned on God and all his creations.

A person - or being - has to WANT forgiveness and ask for it and the being we call satan hates God soooo... Itll never happen, which renders the question moot.
Besides satan is, or was, an angel and angels dont exist by earthly human rules. Satan has already had its judgement day and already been cast from heaven forever.

The Bible makes it very clear that Satan will never change his ways.
Satan is absolutely opposed to God; he always has been and always will be. He isn't like any other creature; he is an evil, malevolent spiritual power whose single goal is to block God's will Satan's ultimate destiny, Jesus taught, is "the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels" (Matthew 25:41).

God did not provide a plan of redemption for the angels as He did for mankind. The fall of the human race necessitated an atoning sacrifice for sin, and God provided that sacrifice in Jesus Christ. In His grace, God redeemed the human race and brought glory to Himself.

Hey, I started reading the Bible again today after years. I'm confused. Genesis Verse 1:26 mentions God making man. Is this the Pre-Adamic man you mentioned? Please, help me to understand, Shay.
Report as
No, that's speaking of Adam & Eve.
The pre-adamic race is just a theory, which does explain, cavemen, the ice age, the dinosaurs. I'll copy my CDs & send them to you, soon.
Benny explains all this happening between Gen 1:1 & Gen1:2. Here's the thing. Everything God creates is perfect right? So, "God created the heavens & the earth". Would this not have been perfect? So there seems to be a void between the next verse. "Now the earth was formless & without void, there was darkness over the deep, & a divine wind sweeping over the water". Don't get too overwhelmed by this. It's a theory.
May I suggest, reading one of the gospels & then Acts all the way up to Rev. Don't stress too much about Rev, it can be confusing. You'll grow faster. I promise. lov ya. :-D

No, he does not, and God has made that very clear. Revelation 20:10 says "And the Devil who was misleading them was hurled into the lake of fire and sulphur." The lake of fire symbolizes eternal destruction, and his fate has been sealed. Jesus referred to him as a manslayer and father of the lie. He lived in heaven as one of God's angels before turning against God, and deliberately lied and disobeyed.

Well according to Anabaptists Satan and the demons will be forgiven. Their reasoning is something along the lines of God being all powerful and all righteous. And since forgiveness is considered godliness by some. Then it follows that God will forgive all. I think only Muslims and Christians pray for a wrathful god to make everyone but them suffer eternally.

I'm not sure on this one. Theoretically, if Satan were to repent, (which he does not want to do, he feels he would make a better deity, so he and half of God's angels mutinied.) God would forgive him. On another hand, Satan is already in an angelic form and was expected not to sin, so he should not be forgiven. I have no idea which answer is right, if either of them. The Bible says it won't happen, so we already know the answer to IF. It could be a question to ask God when you get to heaven though.

No Satan will never be forgiven by God. He was created as a perfect spirit creature in the heaven. However he wanted the worship that belongs to God, so he willfully opposed God and his purpose for mankind. After he gotten Adam and Eve to sin against God, there was no turning back to doing good. That is why God uttered the first prophecy in the bible book of Genesis chapter 3 verse 15 which said that he will be bruise in the head. This type of bruise is fatal, which means death. Since Jesus who is king of God's Kingdom, will give Satan this fatal blow,(Compare Revelation 20:1-3) his ransom sacrifice does not cover him.

He doesn't deserve forgiveness, and will never repent. If he did, that does not mean there won't be sin. Satan is not the one who causes us to sin, he simply tempts us. But he still greatly contributes to our sin by his influence. With our free will, we will sin by nature. But Satan still cannot repent. Why? This is not because God is lacking in mercy. The reason they cannot repent is rooted in their very nature as angels. Satan (or "the devil") and the other fallen angels (often called "demons") were created naturally good, but they became evil through a choice against God that was final and irreversible. Their act of rebellion is irrevocable (that is, cannot be taken back) because they possess a perfect angelic intellect which, unlike human intellect, is not darkened by ignorance. They could clearly see the true nature of their choice and all the consequences that would flow from it. As a result, their rebellion against God and His will was definitive. So, as the Catechism teaches, "There is no repentance for the angels after their fall, just as there is no repentance for men after death". (My answer continues in the comments)

Helpful (1) Fun Thanks for voting Comments (3)
Report as
Remember: Satan is only a creature; he is not God's "opposite." Being omnipotent, God has no opposite. Though Satan (and the other demons), like all angels, is powerful and has an intellect that far surpasses our own, we need not be afraid of him if we are in God's grace. Why God permits the activity of Satan is a "great mystery," but we know that cannot prevent God from fulfilling His will for man. In the end, St. Paul tells us that "in everything God works for good with those who love him". Through temptation, our wills can be strengthened to follow Jesus more faithfully and grow in holiness. Whenever we encounter a strong temptation by Satan, we can pray to Our Lady for strength, or pray the powerful prayer of St. Michael:

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O holy prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Hope this helps! - ManOfKnowledge
