Is there any person in congress that lived his life as a painter plumber or blue collar. I think the constitution may have wanted this.

I'm sure all of congress are millionaires many times over. do they know what it takes to pay a bill

Yes, several, including Ed Lynch and Steve Markey of Mass, boast blue-collar roots. Actually, the framers thought that our elected representatives should be well educated, own real estate (they called it property), and be of sober, discerning and upright sentiment. The Federalist Papers #52 and #68 are particularly helpful on this. You can read them online here: http://avalon.law.yale.edu/18th_century/fed68.asp
.
They thought the representative should be the best and brightest, not the lowest common denominator, and that democracy works best when it's elected representatives are better informed, better educated, and better able to anticipate unanticipated consequences of legislation that might be proposed.

So white collars don't know how to work hard or pay the bills? I prefer congress to be made up of engineers, scientists, doctors, innovators, and related entrepreneurs. But we have better things to do than to play leader tug-o-war and slander dodgeball. Using more widely known names. Imagine a government ran by Bill Gates, Ellon Musk, Eric Schmidt, Larry Page, Larry Ellison, Jared Diamond, and John Chambers. We'd be the forefront of human existence.

I didn't say anything about white collar work What I'm saying is if it was made up of different people they would understand more problems

Well... If a plumber ran for congress, would people vote for them? No college, probably a GED, and clueless on most subjects outside of plumbing.

DDX. I'm surprised at your response. Someone of your intelligence should know that there are many smart and intelligent people that do not have a degree. There are sone bright minds out there that did not go through the system. Plumbers, painters and the like. I wish having a degree made you smart, but speaking from someone that has one.....I know better.

Sure you can have Joe the plumber as your campaign tool. But what would the general public think if Joe ran for congress? It wouldn't set a good example for the children. It's worse enough as it is already. Who are the people looking for jobs? What jobs are open that are going unfilled? Bill Gates has said many times he hates it when people uses him as an example of not getting an education. First off, he was only a few units away from graduating. Second, he had the opportunity to start something and timing was extremely relevant for his success. You can't say that for most people.

Some of the brightest and successful businesspeople I know did not get a degree, but they did get an education. Education comes in many forms.

It's made up of lawyers and what are lawyers taught in law school? To win and that's it.
Some are not millionaires when elected but most all end up millionaires after. How can that be? Liars, cheaters, thief's all of them!

Our congress is made up primarily of lawyers and the Chinese government is run by people with engineering degrees. Their economy is booming and ours is sinking. If the Chinese had a working constitution that protected their rights it would be an ideal society.

Our economy is not sinking. In fact we are doing ok and I think we are starting to show signs of a strong future. China wishes they were us. Don't believe everything you hear from the media. China is not the Land of Milk & Honey. Great country, but still developing.
