Well because strong people get them because they can handle the pain so they automatically think that person is tough also it takes approximately 30-90 seconds for a human to judge something or someone
Same reason why some people still think it's bad to be homosexual. We're all involved with tradition and we need to grow up. Tattoos have meaning. The only people who wear unicorn tattoos are people that have the unicorn as a symbol of something big in their lives. If I had a dog that meant the entire world to me and that dog passed away, I would definitely have a tattoo of a dog. People need to leave tradition and learn to accept change.
They last forever, cost a lot, can make you look scummy, and can even get you addicted to getting tattoos. Hidden tattoos are pointless because what are they for, no one can see them. Only something respectful, like an army task force you were in.
In the Jewish religion we are not to mark our bodies in anyway especially do to the ink stamping of numbers on Holocaust victims. Also, you cannot be buried in a Jewish cemetery if you have tattoos. Albeit, the rules have somewhat been relaxed, the decision to get a tattoo is yours and yours only. The other members are entitled to their own opinions, of course. However, I have a few and love them!
i honestly think that nowadays, people are pretty used to tattoos. i think that when they object is mostly when the tattoos look like stereotypical tattoos one would expect on the criminal element, or are very "over-the-top" such as whole body tattoos. also, i have noticed that when people get symbols "like hope, faith, love written in the chinese symbol that many people fear these to be cult symbols and react unfavorably. - this is what i have observed and heard, not what i feel.
for many people it is because of religious beliefs, stereotypes of people with tattoos (dirty, unemployed, lower class) or they just don't like the way they look. also people who get them just to get them make it look bad for everyone who has them.
