Inpatient surgery would be covered under Part A of Medicare. Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) covers hospital services, including semi-private rooms, meals, general nursing, drugs as part of your inpatient treatment, and other hospital services and supplies.
As long as your hospital stay does not go beyond 60 days the deductible that you pay under Original Medicare for Part A is $1,184 in 2013. There are additional costs when your stay goes beyond 60 days. To learn more go to www.Medicare.gov.
If you're in a Medicare Advantage Plan or other Medicare plan, you may have different rules, but your plan must give you at least the same coverage as Original Medicare. Some services may only be covered in certain settings or for patients with certain conditions.
