I'm kinda an atheist but at the same time I'm a religious person. But In my opinion there is after life but we are not sure about that cause we can't really tell or prove that it does exist. So the world may never know
You"ll never know until you do die. So live your life like it is your last. And you know the truth in the end. In my belief though, I'll die and soon be somewhere with my family as for my mother an be with them for the rest of time.
The only thing that is absolutely for sure is that our brains and other organs stop functioning and we decompose (provided we are not embalmed or cremated). Personally I don't expect anything after death based on the evidence we have, but just because we have no evidence that we don't continue on is some spirit form is not the same as knowing that we don't. It just seems highly unlikely.
After your death you'll get a funeral. Your BODY goes into the ground your soul on the other hand doesn't. You have your judgement with God. Whether you lived your life right and just and are truly sorry for what you have done and really did your best to glorify God in your thoughts, words and deeds then you shall go to heaven ( if its God's decision) If your not sorry for your sins and lived an unjust life..well let's just say your probably going down. Hope it helped! =)
When you die your life force and consciousness (both of which may be electrical impulses) stops like a battery that has no more electrical charge. The battery still has its case but there is no power. Parts of the battery can be recycled or it may be discarded. Your memories, your sense of humor, your kindness or meanness your intelligence and your views on all things stops forever. Still, it is comforting to think that you will be in a wonderful place if you lived a good life. However, isn't leading a good life reason enough to be good?

I have personal feelings on what happens to the animating spirirt that motivates our physical while we are physically alive. I found some good food for thought in books by Edgar Cayce who considered himself to be a seer. Basically, he sees an end to the current physical and an ongoing spirit that revisits the earthly plane periodically in new physicals. Happy reading and contemplation.
Basically you either get cremated or buried or your body given to scientific research (my personal favourite). If you think honestly (without religious bias coming in) all that makes up who you are is to do with electric signals in your brain, on your death your brain dies and those signals stop, therefore you cease to exist as 'you'. Your body, and the atoms that make it up, then end up where you planned in your funeral plan. We like to think we are more complex than we are at that there should be some kind of 'heaven' or 'afterlife' for humans (and yet strangely not for plants or any animals which are just as alive as we), i'm afraid though humans are just teeming with their own self importance when really, upon death, it's lights out, curtains closed, the end. If it provides any comfort, then if we look at it in an atomic level you live forever, for matter cannot be created or destroyed, your atoms will always live on.
Nobody exactly knows what happens to us after we die. Some people believe that our soul goes into another body and we are born to another mother. Likewise, we keep on being born after our body dies. And some people believe that we have only one physical life and after we die we join with the god and have a spiritual life. We will certainly get to know the answer to this question when we die. Whatever happens to us, we have no control over it. We just have to live a meaningful life until we die.
