What are some practices that Catholics perform today that other protestant branches disagree with?

i know why people originally broke away from the catholic church, but is that the only reason why there are different forms of Christianity today?

Report as

Veneration of Mary, confession, papal authority, are all practical areas of disagreement. But these are fairly minor issues for many Christians, not worth dividing or creating division in the Body.
Different styles of worship & polity exist just as there were different personalities in the disciples. Competition is good; if you want to sell hamburgers, you get better market penetration if you allow for Burger King, McDonalds, Wendys, etc.

God is not a God of confusion. He doesn't tell you something and then turn around and tell me something different so that we fight are debate among each other. In the book of ACTS, 2 it talking about the disciples being in one accord. Meaning their were in agreement with each other. And the reason their were in agreement is because they were all Born Again and filled with the Holy Spirit.

God is not the author of confusion, but man is easily confused. We get it wrong the same way that sheep wander from the shepherd.

Again! You missed the point. The reson people get it wrong in because their not filled with the Holy Spirit. Example. The majority of the time the discples didn't have a clue of what Jesus was saying. But after Jesus left and He sent the comforter the Holy Spirit then the Holy spirit revealed all things to them. Tell me why do the Catholics Baptist babies? It's not biblical. Water baptism is symbolic to dying to self and being resurrected in the Spirit. But if your a baby how is it a baby can repent of their sins when they know nothing about sin? Nowhere in the bible did they baptist babies. Also if you know nothing about the Holy Spirit how can one be Baptised with the Holy Spirit? You see that's the problem with people in the church today and not just in the Catholic church but all churches. They know nothing about theHoly Spirit.

The mode of baptism is perhaps of less importance than you might think.
Suppose you come to my door. Do I let you in, invite you to dinner and maybe stay the night, because you performed a ritual or some other work? No, I let you in because I know you. Now I do believe in baptism as a sign of the new covenant, but it does not save, and it isn't something to divide the body over.

You reason everything out of the flesh which proves you don't know what your talking about. My wisdom come from God though His Word and the Holy Spirit. God said my ways are not your ways and my thoughts are not your thoughts. Your sadly mistaken if you think you don'y need to be Baptised in The Holy Spirit.
Jesus said you must be Born Again in order to enter the Kingdom Of God.

John 3:3

3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Water Baptism does not Save you but to be Born of the Spirit does.

Praying to dead mortals like the 'Virgin Mary' and various saints. Also clerical celibacy, most of the 'holy' sacraments, and hierarchal structure of the Catholic Church.

I can tell you of over twenty biblical reasons I left the Catholic Church. The main reason is they don't preach Salvation and they think Mary was sinless therefore they exalt her above Jesus and God. The call her the Mother of God or Heavenly Queen.

Most of them. The pope and the papacy, praying to Mary who's dead, praying to dead people they call saints, infant baptism, confirmation, purgatory, relics, denying communion to anyone but catholics, the assension of Mary (and everything else regarding Mary), belief people can perform miracles after death, excommunication, Peter as first pope, confessional to a priest and teaching it as necessity rather that direct prayer to God,...the list goes on, and on...

Wow Aux I'm sincerely impressed. That's the second posting I've seen from you where you've expressed your disagreement without mocking the other person's beliefs.
Congratulations on your more loving and Christian attitude.

We are not supposed to pray to other "gods" or saints as they call them.
Not getting married is a man made law to save land that belonged to the church. More hypocrisy.
They will excommunicate a woman for divorcing an abusive husband but not a priest who defiled a child.
I could go on and on. I'm truly surprised after being raised in that hypocrisy, that I found Christ again at all. Thank God I did.

The church has alway wanted to rule the world, and for a time succeeded, but the creator, thru education and reasoning, helped us to change the world. But the church still has to much power. The have implemented their own laws to control the followers. That's why I left.
