So i got my wisdom teeth taken out. my face is swollen. is it better to apply a wet, heated rag on it or ice in a ziplock?
make sure you put a cloth around the icepack as a barrier between the icepack and your skin. you can damage the skin by applying the icepack directly on your face
Cold reduces swelling, so definitely ice in a ziplock bag.
Cold always reduces swelling. Also, if the area is bleeding from time to time, cold us very good for that!
Icing it will reduce swelling, so I would recommend the bag of ice. However, if it still ache after the swelling goes down a warm towel will relax the muscles.
I worked as a Dental Asst. with a Oral Surgery Office. My Suggestion would be Ice, as there is swelling and than slowly introduce warmer liquids.
If you don't have a cold pack, ice in a ziplock bag is fine.
