Any tips on how to run a successful 2 mile run that is timed?

Doing a timed 2 mile run in a week. I'm kinda nervous. Just wondering if you guys have any pointers.

Pace yourself. There's a tendency to push too hard too soon, and then you run out of steam. Save some juice for the kick at the end.

Breathe through your nose, carry a bottle of water if you can, just enough at a time to wet the tongue

Listen to a song on your IPod thats beat is about the same as your pace. Put it on repeat and it will help you keep running the whole time at one pace. Try not to walk no matter how much you want to. It's a lot harder to start running again after you've walked once than to run without walking. The first mile you will be burning through something I forget the name of but the point is push through it!! It will get easier after that and your lungs and legs will stop burning. practice running and train yourself and pace yoursrelf then when you see the finish line in site of vision start sprinting and pass as many people as you can. and if possible if you know where the two mile race is going to be located then you could practice running there...

Get out fast and try to maintain a lead or stay close to the front if you can handle it.

Relax your arms, run 2.5 miles once every other day for a week before the race, and aim for a 1:30 lap on every lap.
