Do mormons believe in psychics?

Report as

Actually Erin, you're wrong. Depending upon the type of psychic ability, the belief is that the power comes from God and is either used to his glory or is corrupted and serves Satan. Those who are ill informed and afraid to ask about such things are the ones who believe as you stated.

Father was a Nazarene Minister and My ex-wife's mother was an elder in the Mormon church.

Mormons, like many Christians are of the belief that (unknown to the psychic) the information they receive is provided by the Devil or demons in an effort to take glory away from God.

Oh, yes. Mormons are always trying to do the world harm. ;)

I wasn't saying that. This belief is common amongst most Christian religions.

Demons, talking to people mind to mind... As if. Sorry, I doubt few if any Christians believe that.

Question!! What do you have against Mormons?:) They believe in God and worship him. NOT the devil
Report as
Actually they do believe that. Obviously you aren't a regular church goes but if you were and you told your priest/pastor/minister that you had psychic visions they would tell you to ignore them at all cost. If Christians believe in God and angels why wouldn't they believe in demons??

Umm obviously i am a regular church goer:) I believe that Satan is real, that doesn't mean that i worship him. And if i did have a vision or a dream, then my BISHOP or LEADER:) would tell me to talk to him about it, and to pray about it. Tell me now...what's so wrong with our religion?

Kyleeanne I was responding to bowma's comment. Sorry for the confusion.

oh ok then! can you answer my question? :)

I never said anything was wrong with your religion.
Report as
But you said that we take glory away from God, and we do exactly the opposite...
Report as
No that many Christians believe psychics get their messages from demons whom are attempting to take glory from God. Demons not Mormons
Report as
Oh..ok well i don't believe that but im rolling with you now:)

I miss church on average 2 weeks a year- it's in my attendance records. My Bishop would tell me to pray about it and then come back and talk to him. There would be nothing about devils. That would go for any of my Bishops. I've lived in several states.

My grandfather was psychic. Because he refused to ignore his ability he was kicked out of several churches of varying denomination. The occasional dream or vision is prayed about but if you constantly see the future and claim the dead speak to you the story can change quite quickly.

No, we don't believe in psychics. Psychic -google defined it as: A person considered or claiming to have psychic powers; a medium. No, we don't believe in telepathy, or clairvoyance or, any other odd mental power. I am a Mormon and a Neuroscience Major. I should know.

We do believe people can have gifts/talents that are part of their spirit (aka. The personality or part of a person that is nonphysical). Gifts are things like the ability to learn languages easily, a keen mind, a good comforter ect... We recognize that our spirits were created by God and as of such any gift we have comes from God. Nothing about Satan and Demons.

Yes we have a very strong connection to the Spirit world. We do believe in spirits good and bad. We aren't encouraged to do ghost hunts like seen on television. That Said I have and many others have many extremely spiritual dealing during the twenty four years that l worked in Temples. If any doubt if our beliefs center in ghost, lets remember that we .are given the gift of the Holy Ghost who.is a Spirit. Study Church history and much its taught on mans dealing in the paranormal Kingdoms. Become learned first then you will understand what your place is when dealing with the spirit world and those who dwell on both sides
