Actually Erin, you're wrong. Depending upon the type of psychic ability, the belief is that the power comes from God and is either used to his glory or is corrupted and serves Satan. Those who are ill informed and afraid to ask about such things are the ones who believe as you stated.
Father was a Nazarene Minister and My ex-wife's mother was an elder in the Mormon church.

No, we don't believe in psychics. Psychic -google defined it as: A person considered or claiming to have psychic powers; a medium. No, we don't believe in telepathy, or clairvoyance or, any other odd mental power. I am a Mormon and a Neuroscience Major. I should know.
We do believe people can have gifts/talents that are part of their spirit (aka. The personality or part of a person that is nonphysical). Gifts are things like the ability to learn languages easily, a keen mind, a good comforter ect... We recognize that our spirits were created by God and as of such any gift we have comes from God. Nothing about Satan and Demons.

Yes we have a very strong connection to the Spirit world. We do believe in spirits good and bad. We aren't encouraged to do ghost hunts like seen on television. That Said I have and many others have many extremely spiritual dealing during the twenty four years that l worked in Temples. If any doubt if our beliefs center in ghost, lets remember that we .are given the gift of the Holy Ghost who.is a Spirit. Study Church history and much its taught on mans dealing in the paranormal Kingdoms. Become learned first then you will understand what your place is when dealing with the spirit world and those who dwell on both sides
