Why do people get mixed up in using the words "then" and "than" ? For example:

i like chocolate more "then" vanilla. Or I went to school "than" did my homework. Why ?!?!???

English can be pretty hard, and very hard if it's your second or third language you've learned. There is A LOT of this on ask.

Social media has started to influence our brains and since everybody else is using then and than interchangeably, so do most other people. So it all snowballs.

For the same reasons people get its/it's wrong. Or there/their/they're wrong. Or board/bored.

That's just the tip of the iceberg ... you're very new here, so you'll see a lot more than just those two examples. There are too many errors and misspellings to list them all, but I've always wondered what these people think when they see words used (and spelled) correctly??? They don't seem to learn from it.

I feel it's simple English along with a simple mistake can be made if it happens. If you judge others for making that mistake you yourself look much more foolish and consider yourself perfect which is NOT true.
