Can a 14 year old decide which parent he wants to live with?

There have also been reports of domestic violence where he lives right now.

you probably could, and your parents will probably consider that, mist likely you will make the decision, also which parent do you want to live with?

I'm not sure but he should have the right to have a say in the matter.

If he's being abused, the court will take charge of the matter and remove him from his situation.

It's a misconception that you can choose which parent to live with, based on your age alone. The court still decides based around which living situation is better for the child. Your age is of little consideration.

This all depends on what state you live in and what is on the divorce agreement. In the state of Tennessee a child CAN decide which parent he or she wants to live with legally. But both parents have to be in agreement as to visitation rights for the other parent.

if there are reports of abuse they should definitely be able to live with the other parent

I don't think a 5 YO can make that decision because they are easily influenced... A young teenager definitely can make a decision especially at 14.

I live in Pa and we were told that at age 12 the kid can decide. Not sure if it varies by state, but if one parent is unable to provide or is neglecting the child then the courts can force the child to stay with whomever they find is the more capable parent/guardian.
