Some healthy diet changes would be: Reduce your red meat intake, and instead eat lean meats like chicken and fish Avoid starchy foods like potatoes and refined bread. Your breads should all be "100% whole grain," and would be better if they are based from bran, flax, oat, or quinoa instead of wheat. Some great foods include sweet potatoes, bell peppers, carrots, onions, seeds and nuts, and legumes (beans). When cooking with oil, use coconut oil ("organic"). It's better for you than canola or generic vegetable oils, but holds up to heat better than safflower or olive oils. (BTW, it's solid in cooler temperatures! Neat-o!) Instead of using sauces like ketchup or teriyaki, use spices and spice mixes to add flavor. They normally have a lot less sugar and salt than the sauces. Try cooking your own foods. You can cut out most of the unhealthy stuff (added sugars/salts, preservatives, gluten, etc.) simply by cooking at home!
