Can you make cornbread without sugar, baking powder, or baking soda? any recipes?

Report as

Sugar can easily be removed, but you need some sort of leavening agent.

I am looking through www.allrecipies.com and I am not finding any corn bread recipes without either baking powder or baking soda.

EDIT: AH! found one

Thank you so much!!!!!! but does it have to be butter milk or can it be 2%
Report as
You can turn 2% into buttermilk by adding 1 Tablespoon of vinagar or lemon juice into the measuring cup and then adding enough milk to make 1 cup and letting it set for 10 minutes. In this case they asking for 1-1/2 cups, so 1 Tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon of vinagar in the measuring cup before adding the milk.

To answer your question more directly, yes simple 2% should work, but adding the buttermilk mixture will make it taste much better.
