They can be, it depends on their environment, i have 2 year old pit and he is very gentle i also have three younger sisters that play with him and love him, altho we cant mess around by him because even tho he is gentle he is very protective of them. they are truly amazing dogs and are missunderstood
No, Pit Bulls are led to be mean, scary and bad dogs. Really it is just the people who train them to be that way. They are the best dogs - in my opinion - in the world!!! So, again, Pit Bulls ARE NOT mean dogs.
They are not mean at all its how they are trained and of they are a older dog look at who and how there last owner or owners treated and cared for them if its a pup just train him or her and they make pretty great dogs
I've grown up with pit bulls my whole life. Each pit was different. Every pit bull has a different personality and need a lot of training so that it doesn't live up to the stereotype. A dedicated owner with love and patience with assertive training will get a very lovable pit bull.
I have three. They are very loving towards my family and everyone else (strangers as well as long as I'm around) and wouldn't harm a fly. Unless they feel threatened which isn't very often. They also give fair warning to what they don't want you doing. (Growl. Bark, paw, etc.). Only time they fight is over food possession.
i think i heard that genuine breeds are quite aggressive but most are mixed breeds these days. anyhow, i've known pitbulls to be very caring dogs who would do anything to protect their owner. when they are playing, they make you feel a million dollars. It's just how they are brought up....but thats like any creature and any child.
They are one of the best family dogs who can own!!!!!!!!. Golden retreiver have more recorded bites, actually the highest recorded number of all dog bites. Pitbulls are only aggressive if they are raised horribly, but you know every animal is like that, even humans can be like that.
Some could be if they were trained to fight. If you train it like any other dog then no. I get tired of people thinking they are. Just train/treat the dog like any other. Show them love and comfort. It's the people that train them. NOT THE BREAD!
Pitbulls are called "red zone" dogs.Reason being is because these types of dogs can go into a sort of rage like attack mode, based mainly off of just instinct. People tend to blame bad behavior on a dogs breed. A lot of pitbulls are no more aggressive than a chihuahua, but their strength and size may make them seem so. They won't be aggressive unless they are unbalanced and trained wrong. If they think they are alpha dog they will seem aggressive. I think a little too much gets blamed on the breed, but I do agree that these breeds tend to be more ferocious when they are out of control. But keep in mind that any dog can turn out like that when it is not balanced, especially the high energy dogs.
this is a horrible stereotype, just because a few has been mean before does not mean that all of them will maul you when they get the chance. saying that is just like saying that just because a few people have murdered someone else means that everyone on the world are ruthless killers. be careful of what you believe.
I have ben bitten by a pit bull so I know from experience that yes they can be mean animals as with any animal. If you adopt a animal that was in negative experiences you will find issues. I know for a fact that the pit bull that attacked me used to be abused. Its all in the raising of the dog and the environment its in or by the instability of its owner and surroundings. Be aware this stereotype came about these dogs because they were breed to protect. Now humans are breedists and we think that all the dogs do is attack. Dogs though, when they live in a pack, they dont care what breeds the other dog is! As long as the dogs are ok to them they will accept him. There is allot all of us humans should learn for our animals actions.
If raised correctly a pit can be very loving, protective and extremely royal. Just like other breeds though some pits will have different personalities, for example some get along with other pets some won't some will be good with kids some not so much, they just need a loving and caring environment if they have it they will be your best friend.
