Only if teenagers are allowed to drive. Motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death for US teens. In 2010, seven teens ages 16 to 19 died every day from motor vehicle injuries. Per mile driven, teen drivers ages 16 to 19 are three times more likely than drivers aged 20 and older to be in a fatal crash. That's all according to the CDC teen drivers fact sheet.
Actually more have died from accidents caused by younger drivers. I think as we get older (I'm 60) we should have to take the drivers test more frequently. It should be decided on a case by case bases. There are many well over 70 who can still drive very well. If they can't, THEN they shouldn't get to continue to have a drivers licenses.

The question isn't as silly or as offensive as it seems. In Oz we have a number of safeguards. Now that I've passed 75 I have to undertake a medical examination each year to renew my licence. When I reach 85 I'll have to pass a road test each year.
Yes, some old people are a menace on the road but their numbers are relatively small. Most of us, with a lifetime of driving behinds us -- and that may be accident free -- are as well qualified to drive as younger people, and far better qualified than inexperienced new drivers.
But people age differently and obviously a person who is medically unfit to drive is a menace on the road -- at any age. I wonder whether your question could be widened a little to include drunks and junkies? Perhaps, while we're changing those laws, we could also permanently ban people who use cell phones or who text while they're driving.
Once we start banning drivers it really does open a Pandora's box.
Anyone who is of legal driving age and can pass the written and road tests should be allowed to drive. Age, in this case, is just a number. Frankly everyone under the age of 21 and over the age of 70 should be tested every year. We all age differently and you cannot restrict someone from doing something just because of how old they are (as and adult anyway).
After you hit the age 70, i think you should have to take a yearly test to make sure your still safe to drive. Your right, a lot of accidents are caused by the old people because they think they are such a good driver they dont have to be as cautious, resulting in the injury or death of someone else and themselves
