Luke 6:35 " But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back." Romans 12:14 " Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse." 1 Peter 3:9 " Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing," Matthew 5:39 "But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also." Matthew 5:44 " But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,"
Luke 17 says that Jesus taught forgiveness.... 3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. 4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. HE DID NOT WANT THEM TO KILL.
No! Jesus is love he's all about saving people.People kill them selfs when they don't accept the reality of his saving grace.I wish everyone would accept the truth of Jesus and give there life to him so they can achieve tru life.
Of course He didnt want his followers to kill. Thou shalt not kill is pretty clear. In the old testament God kead His people in WARS against their enemies but killing was othwrwise forbidden and had strict and harsh penalties. Jesus preached peace and love. Murder was forbidden. Killing in war, esp if the enemy are also enemies of God is different but we cant just go about killing people. If nothing else God said to obey our laws and leaders and we all pretty much have laws against killing. All that said - that does not mean that, at some point in the future, there wont come a time fir a sort if Christian 'jihad' so to speak, a time we will have to defend ourselfs against Gods enemies. But the time is not yet. That where the Muslims have gotten it wrong. Theyve jumped the gun and chosen the wrong enemy.
A few words of Jesus Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 15:4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. And Paul Acts 3:23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
Ummmm.....sorry to disappoint, but Jesus said it is better to drown yourself with a millstone around your neck than to lead a child to sin. Basically put in a good word for suicide, and he was very specific about the millstone method.
The testimony of the martyrs is that early Christians went to the cross, to the lions, with nothing more than a hymn or a prayer on their lips. They took not up arms, and no resistance was found. Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place." (John 18:36).
Matthew 26:51-54 "Put away your sword, Jesus told him. "Those using swords will get killed. Don't you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly?? But if I did, how would the Scriptures be fulfilled that describe what is happening now? (Living Bible) Scripture show what Jesus taught, man has not followed his steps. But in the end it says:" The Lord will settle international disputes; all the nations will convert their weapons of war into implements of peace." Isaiah 2:4 (Living Bible). And Matthew 10:34 is not advocating killing. Please read the rest of the text and get the sense of it. "I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-on-law against her mother-in-law--a man's worst enemies will be right in his own home! If you love your father and mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me; you are not worthy of being mine." Jesus was saying that loving him and doing his will can cause problems for some, putting him first before family that can be like a sword. The Bible does not contradict it self, its our lack of understanding and getting the insight on the scriptures.
