No such thing as a semi truck. It is a semi trailer. The truck I use has an automatic transmission. Yes it is a big one and pulls a semi trailer. An 18 wheeler is officially called a Tractor Semi Trailer. The Semi part usually gets referred to as the truck.... but it isnt.
US military trucks almost always have automatic transmissions, simply because we can't teach every flunkie who wants to drive an army truck to drive standard. Some people just suck at it. As a result, the guys who CAN drive stick hate them because it's tough to get the engine to put out high rpm's (which usually means more power) without the stupid thing upshifting.
If you have a Ford f-650/750 cummins and you go 150 mph on the highway the engine will blow, because the transmission is always automatic on the 650/750 that's the way they blow up the transmission blows then stalls then get and wait for a 2006 Ford E-550 towtruck then go hop in then the guy will randomly stall it then you go hop in a 1921 Ford f450 drives you to Alabama! :D
Yes u can even now take the az test in Ontario with a auto transmission but u will never see me driving one they suck for power and torque but mostly u see a lot of big company's that hire all the towel heads to drive them because they don't know how to drive and give truckers a bad image and reputation
