How long can an octopus live out of the water?

I know that it may depend upon the variety, but I'm just looking for some kind of ballpark answer. I've seen videos of them moving around boats and laboratories. It seems like they can stay out for quite a while.

An octopus can live out of water for as long as the skin stays wet, such that gas can still exchange through. This can take a few minutes. The period an octopus can take before dying depends largely on its size, in that the larger it is, the longer it will take before dying.
