What is the best cupcake do make from scratch?

Report as

Chocolate -- ANYthing chocolate!
Or, and these are "sort of" cupcakes since they get cooked in cupcake pans... You can make the recipe for cheesecake, put vanilla wafers in the bottoms of the cupcake pans (with papers!), pour cheesecake batter over the wafers, bake & top with cherry pie filling. Yummy, those are delicious! :)

You're welcome!! Haven't made them in forever, so I forget the exact length of time (under 10 minutes, I'm sure) & temperature (325 or 350..?) to bake them. Test with a toothpick when the tops are very slightly browned, then let them cool a while before putting the cherry pie filling topping on. Once that's done, keep them refrigerated.
There is probably a mini-cheesecake recipe online somewhere that can give you precise instructions...
Anyway... hope you & the team enjoy 'em -- they're awesome & now I feel like baking some! :)

Hey, Leash -- got it -- you need to bring me some of those!!

MissRia -- Wish I had the actual, accurate recipe, they're really good & easy to make, but taste & look like they took a lot of effort, haha!
I know you need: a box vanilla wafer cookies, 2 "blocks" of cream cheese, 1 tsp. (I think) of vanilla extract, lots of sugar & eggs. Whip all that (minus the cookies!) with a mixer, pour over the cookies, spoon cherry pie filling, or any topping you like, on top once they've cooled.
My mom gave me the recipe many, many yrs. ago & I used to make them for X-mas every year since they look "festive" with the red cherry topping. :)
The recipe may have come from Nabisco Vanilla Wafers, so maybe the Nabisco site (or the cookie box itself) has the recipe..? Hope you find one & enjoy them!

I found a recipe online. All you have to have is cheesecake batter. :) You can also make Oreo ones by putting the top of an Oreo on the bottom, or just the whole Oreo. You can use girl scout cookies (yum) You can add mini chocolate chips to them, Reese's minis, m&m's, and all sorts of candy. And you can top them with blueberries, cherries and all sorts of yummy things! These are fun!

So glad you found a real recipe! And... Ooooooo -- Oreo tops on the bottom w/ mini chocolate chips mixed into the batter, and... why not the rest of the Oreo as a topping?!? An Oreo cheesecake sandwich -- sounds awesomely delicious, they ARE fun! :D
Now I just need to get my oven fixed... hmm... not so much fun... :-/

Haha, thanks! I have a toaster oven, but it's not big enough for cupcake pans, so for now, I'll just gnaw on a Hershey bar! 8)

Chocolate seem to be the easiest to make from scratch, vanilla can be a little harder. Also bean cake cupcakes are really good. Don't know if you have ever heard of them, you can look up a recipe. They are amazing, very fluffy. They don't seem home made at all, they turn out very gourmet. And are gluten free also.
