I am interested in investing in the stock market, and I know nothing about it. Can anyone lead me in the right direction?

I don't even know where or how to buy them. How do I know when to buy and sell? How does it affect your taxes?

http://www.marketwatch.com this is the best site to go to, on the far right of the bar there is a games button click on it and start playing around in there, what i do is buy stocks that are down and have bottomed out then when they go up 1 or 2 percent sell them and repeat the process

What is the main purpose for choosing the stock market (which is very risky)? Are you wanting to make profit sooner? Or are you wanting to invest money today, and use it when you retire?

(I already have a 401K, through my employer,) so yes, I'm looking to make money sooner. I would also like to have it available, (incase I need it for an emergency). I am starting to sell crafts on the side, and just want to invest this little bit of extra money.
