What Social Studies courses are required to teach it?

Report as

You need to have attained any undergraduate degree in elementary and secondary education to teach social studies courses. You might require to take up other related programs, but this will depend on the specific level you're teaching the courses.

*EDIT* Depends on which grade level you plan on teaching. If you're thinking between grades 1-12, you just need the general stuff. A bachelor's degree and license to teach

OK, thanks. My question was somewhat vague. To get an alternative teacher's license in Social Studies, I guess I would need to have 30 credits in history to teach in high school, in Ohio, along with a few education courses. The alternative license doesn't require a degree in education.

Anyone know specifically what the requirements would be to get an alternative educator license on the elementary and middle school level in Social Studies? Maybe what you're saying is that there are no specific courses to take. By "general stuff", what do you mean? I imagine I would need 30 credit hours in something to get an alternative license. Maybe I just don't know how the elementary/middle school system works. Sorry for all of the confusion. Thanks again for all of your comments.
