What kind of help or where to go for a person dealing with exstrem social anxiety ,

makes it emposbuil to get or keep a job, keep meaningful relationships and unable to function in society?

There are healthcare providers who specialize in panic/anxiety disorders, which it seems by your question is apparently the issue. These disorders cannot be controlled by meditation and breathing techniques alone. You need to see a doctor specializing in this area, be properly diagnosed and go from there. Panic and anxiety is not fun to have, from someone who knows. Best wishes.

wonder what the doc does? can it be fix ?or just helpd alittle? feel like no way out;/ can go anywhere that bad..

Depending on how bad it is, the doctor will prescribe you an anit depressant or another medication. It will help as long as you take them and live healthy. You have to be open and honest with you're doctor about everything. You WILL feel better.

With all due respect an anti-anxiety medication would be prescribed apparently since being unable to work, interact socially, etc. Anxiety is not a form of depression. It is a diagnoses all on it's own.

Lol, just telling what was done for me. Never been to med school, but I do wish people would stop saying calm down, it gets better with time and on you're own. It doesn't.

if this person is you? what I would do if I were you. I would feel good about myself for at least noticing and being able to try to do something about it. so at times as people we have to take things into our own hands. when you feel the anxiety coming on. what's the one or two things that can turn it off? something that you know would devert the anxiety. so think what does turn it off and when out and about. even as hard it is for you to do. work on trying to turn that switch off when u feel it start to take over. if you can mentally do that? you will become stronger,more confident in yourself. you may even come to realize? that the old saying is far so true. once you put your mind into it? you can just about accomplish anything. learned that 3 years ago and I'm 37 :)

If you know there is a problem causing you stress & anxiety go to your local Health & counciling centre. They will advise you on who may be of help to you to help overcome the triggers that cause you distress. In Australia we have a lot of these centers & some are free.
