i got an iphone and it has the same itunes account as my itouch but my computer is asking if I want to restore the Itouch account?

I don't understand why it isn't just syncing and combine things rather than wanting to replace what I have on my iPhone with the Itouch stuff. how do I get my computer to notice it has the same account and sync it?
