The fun button is there because maybe someone answers a question, and the person, says something funny, but not actually answering the question, just something funny.
The person who asked the question is obliged to click "fun"
Even though not everyone does that.
So, the users are also obliged to give the correct answer or an opinion to the question asked.
That's why I said, it's there, to make the users become more helpful, THAN funny.

There are lots of chat sites and social networks that cater to that. If that is what you are looking for go to one of them instead of trying to change a site that has never been designed to chat.

Maybe, but actually it's easy to find someone if your trying to chat with them, just google their user name and after that put ASK.com it brings up there last question they answered.
