hi Noah! I am the biggest chicken you will ever come across when it comes to doctors and needles! I can honestly tell you that what is going on in your head will be far worse then the actual blood test. :)
Noah, I try always to be honest! it hurts a little, but nothing like I thought it would. the pain is a bit sharp but last a very short time. you WILL be fine! these are professionals helping you, and we all care about people, particularly young people (and little ole ladies) ha! stay safe and make it a great 2013...;-)
Everyone is different. The techs are different too. I have had blood work done lots of times with no issues.. Not often tho you might get one that is a little rough..but rare. I would tell you not to worry at all.The worst, if you can call it that, is a quick little pinch..Just look the other way.It really is simple and pretty painless. Take care...
It feels like a pinch at first but while they are drawing blood you won't feel a thing. But here is the thing. If you relax and sit still it will get done fast. If you tense up and move around and struggle they might have to make several attempts and then it would hurt more than letting them do it and get it done.
I've gotten bloodwork done twice and I'm almost 15. It's actually not too bad. My first time getting it done, I was certain it would be torture. But the people who take blood (phlebotomists) are very skilled in what they do and get it done well. It hurts a tiny-bit when they first put it in but even then it's not really painful. Kind of like a pinch. The needle is left in for about 20-30 seconds but my advice-don't look at it!! Do NOT look at the needle when it is in your arm. It's kinda weird to see and will make you nervous. There is nothing really to worry about, though. You will be fine! And once you get bloodwork done for the first time, it will be even easier for the next times you have to get it done again. Good luck! :)
