Some people can just give it up cold turkey...never look back and never regret it. Others of us have addictive personalities and need something. Your best best is to find something healthy to replace that habit with...Why do you smoke? Find something to do with your hands and if you are determined to give it up you will be successful. Each person has to decide that for themselves ultimately just like any other addiction. Good Luck!
My Pa died for 7 minutes on 27 Nov 2012 and was CPR back. He had been smoking for 62 years. He hasn't touched any cigarettes since then. It's up to you. The look on my Pa's eyes said it all, "I don't want to die." I stepped out of the ER room and heard everything the doc and nurses were doing to him and I cried. He was brought back and vowed never to smoke again, ever. Just think what might happen to you if you continue smoking.
I've never smoked (!) but I understand from many family members and friends that it'll be one of the hardest things you'll ever do - including recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. My recommendation would be to join a Narcotics Anonymous group because nicotine is a drug.
